The soffit over my back door is rotting. Do I hire a carpenter, a handyman or a roofer to replace this?

  You want to find out why your soffit is rotting. Where is moisture coming from? Any of the sources mentioned can do the job, but make sure you find and fix the moisture issue before installing new soffits. Could be a flashing issue, overflowing gutters, or other issue.
